How quickly things can change.

About three weeks ago, a big chunk of the company I work for got sold to an australian company for $400 mil.  http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/25/cabotcorp-idUSL4E7JP36D20110825
Several employees in the R&D group of that division work at our site, and their lives are obviously going to be impacted in some way, shape or form.  One of my good friends at the co., who has over 25 years in is unsure of his future.

It just goes to show how things can turn on a dime. one day you're at your boring ass job and the next day you could be bought out, laid off, moved against your will, you name it.  I don't know, it just ilustates to me how much power our companines have over our daily lives.  Any one out there who has been unemployed for any length of time knows that.  To say the obvious, we take advantage that things that have always been there are always going to be there for us, and it ain't always true.  It sounds trite, except when it happens to you.

Good luck to those guys, but something tells me they are going to be just fine!

Captain Picard- Nerd wedding guru

Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) said "Engaged" to two nerds that got engaged at ComicCon. God bless them, there's someone out there for everyone.  Will they be having nerd babies?  If they name their kids "Jean Luc" or "Riker" or "kirk", they should realy be taken by DSS and raised by a nice foster family. Or placed ain a forced labor cap at Hershey Park http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/19/hershey-guest-workers-claims-investigated_n_931411.html

I would have Geordi LaForge say something at my engagement- I'd keep reminding him he had to act like he was blind. The ice sculpture at their wedding should be of the crystalline entity.

I would have it as my wedding cake but that would be too tacky.  Ya think?

They can do some crazy shit with sugar these days.

Sorry, I'm trippin balls on mexican food now.  I'll try again tomorrow.

Let's get it on!

Now I have done it.  I have started to blog.  I promise not to post boring crap that noone cares about (well, after this one).  If it sucks, please tell me.  If you suck, well, I'm sorry about that.

I will start by posting a decent picture of myself, which may be hard.

Now I have to look at this as my first blog entry for the rest of creation.  I guess you have to start somewhere.
